Organic produce co-op groups are popping up all over Texas. By joining a co-op, households can save money on their produce because they can buy in bulk and share the cost with other households.
For a $25.00 yearly fee and $50.00 per delivery one can get anywhere from 15-30 pounds of produce. The produce can be picked up at a designated site and time every other week. There is a variety of fruits and vegetables in the order and the amounts of any one item are a reasonable amount.
The organic produce comes from Your Health Source. The originators of Your Health Source had a main goal when they started and it was to make their family healthier. They wanted to lose weight and sleep better among other things. It turned into a great opportunity for others as well.
For more information or to sign up with the co-op contact Amber Oliver at 254-396-4470 or Rhonda Strebeck at 254-898-8377. Also, visit the local co-op facebook page at glenroseorganicproducecoop where you can find recipes members share with each other and other information about the local group.
Rhineland Farms located at 3157 CR 411 is another great place to find organic produce, pick your own fruit and other items as well such as an eggs, wools, teas, soaps and herbs.  The public is welcomed to visit the farm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Also, on Saturday, June 25, Rhineland Farms will be hosting an array of vendors who have homemade, homebaked and homegrown wares for sale. There is no cost to set up on that day but the farm asks anyone who may want to participate to call ahead. Samantha Rebstock, owner of the farm says at the last event they had over 200 visitors. Rhineland Farms is planning to have it once a month through August and are making plans for the fall. Samantha says, “We don’t do it as a money maker event for the farm but  so people can sell the things they have made. They work hard on these homemade items and they should be able to keep all their profits for it.”
Somervell County has produce treasures that may be little known. Ed and Darla Hornick are longtime residents of  Somervell County and co-owners of Hornick’s Produce located at 2102 CR 304. They offer fresh produce for sale and are continually adding as the different vegetables come into season. They sell out fast so it’s best to get there early in the day. Call ahead for information at 254-897-4229. See their ad in the Glen Rose Newspaper.
Another favorite produce stand is located downtown on the square. Even as the heat rises those traveling through our downtown area can stop and buy fresh cantaloupe and other delicious items in season as well as jams and jellies around our historic courthouse.

Movie theater plunges into the future

ShowBiz Cinemas is bringing the future of movies to Granbury. The white screen’s days are numbered as the new silver screen appears in recent expansions at the Granbury theatre, and Digital Projection and RealD 3 D movies are replacing the monstrous reels of film previously used in most theaters.
Also among the enhancements are additional sound upgrades in every auditorium at ShowBiz Cinemas. Kevin Mitchell, President and CEO of ShowBiz Cinemas said, “We kick off these new changes with blockbuster movies on the way.” Mitchell also adds that “our management team in Granbury is totally committed to staying in tune and involved with the community, running a clean theatre and providing a first class movie going experience for every customer.”
The installation of the new sound and digital equipment was put into place in time for Shrek “Forever After” 3 D last weekend and Glen Rose residents can expect to enjoy Toy Story 3 in Digital 3 D, which will be opening June 18. See related ad on page 6.
Gone are the red and green cardboard 3 D glasses that were used for movies which were made into 3 D versions and in are the plastic glasses with clear lenses. Mitchell explained on a recent tour of the facility, “Digital 3 D is so much different than the older ones. The movies are actually filmed as a 3 D movie and made into one as before.”
Mitchell stated the new wave of the future is opening doors for so many other events besides films such as concerts, wrestling and racing events and even sports – all in digital 3 D. Can you imagine watching a NASCAR race and see a race car barreling towards you off the silver screen?
Other movies which will be out in the future using this technology is Last Air Bender, Cats and Dogs, Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter and the new Tron film. These are just   a few of the movies which are to be shown in the digital 3 D technology.
Tickets are selling quickly for a special event of the Twilight Trilogy set for June 29 beginning at 7 p.m. This is expected to be a sold out performance so purchase your tickets online to assure your spot at the spectacular evening. One ticket purchased will be good for all three movies which include the newest Twilight movie, Eclipse. Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.showbizcinema.com. Purchasing tickets online also assures there will be no waiting in the ticket line.
Also included in the changes to the theater will be expanding selections of concessions at the Snack Bar. One of the new items will include Icee.
ShowBiz Cinemas, LLC was established in 2007. They say “being passionate about our business and exceeding our customer’s expectations” is their goal and their mission is “to provide a first class movie going experience for every patron that enters our theatres and have fun doing it.”
